GSE & Tool Controller

About the role

The GSE & Tool Controller supports line and base maintenance operations by ensuring that heavy ground support equipment (GSE) and tools are available, functional, and correctly documented for planned and un‑planned maintenance tasks. The role works closely with workshop supervisors, engineers and stores to coordinate equipment dispatch, testing, and disposal while maintaining safety and cost awareness.

Key responsibilities

• Review assigned tasks with workshop supervisors to understand priorities, documentation, and safety precautions.
• Assist engineers in verifying compatibility and readiness of GSE according to approved standards.
• Obtain and use required documentation, parts, tools and equipment as instructed.
• Conduct regular checks and functional tests on heavy GSE, reporting defects for repair or replacement.
• Prepare equipment for engineers and technicians, ensuring return in good condition after work completion.
• Coordinate dispatch and return of equipment with the Engineer‑in‑Charge and maintain an up‑to‑date equipment database.
• Liaise with stores for scrapping non‑functional equipment following approved procedures.
• Apply all mandatory safety precautions and use appropriate protective equipment during task execution.
• Provide internal customer service by supplying accurate information to team members and other departments.
• Monitor cost impact of equipment usage and minimise waste of consumables and parts.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience working with ground support equipment and tools in an aviation maintenance environment.
• Strong awareness of safety procedures and ability to follow published precautions.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and update equipment databases.
• Cost‑conscious mindset with focus on minimizing waste.
