Postdoctoral Researcher in Additive Development

About the role

The Institute of Science, Technology & Innovation (IST&I) of Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) in Ben Guerir invites applications for multiple postdoctoral positions, including one focused on the development of efficient and cost-effective additives. The project centres on designing and synthesising organic and inorganic formulations of additives for the demetallisation of phosphoric acid, as well as specific ligands such as flotation collectors, defoamers and deodorisers.

Key responsibilities

• Design and synthesize organic and inorganic formulations of additives for phosphoric acid demetallisation.
• Synthesize and analyse ligands including flotation collectors, defoamers and deodorisers.
• Characterize compounds using advanced techniques such as NMR, HPLC and GC-MS.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience in the synthesis, purification and characterization of organic and/or inorganic compounds.
• Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals and excellent scientific writing.
• Ability to design and run research projects independently and work in multidisciplinary, international teams.
• Good written and spoken English; knowledge of French is an advantage.

Required skills

• Expertise in organic synthesis, inorganic chemistry and functional molecule design.
• Hands-on experience with NMR, HPLC, GC-MS, LC-MS, FTIR, UV-Vis, ICP-OES/MS and similar methods.
• Knowledge of ligand design, coordination chemistry, surfactants, flotation reagents or phosphoric acid processing is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with green chemistry, sustainable synthesis and process optimization is an advantage.
