Postdoctoral Researcher in Polymer-Based Materials

About the role

The Institute of Science, Technology & Innovation (IST&I) of Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) in Ben Guerir invites applications for multiple postdoctoral positions, including one focused on the design of novel polymer-based materials. The project focuses on the formulation and synthesis of advanced synthetic polymers with optimized architectures and tailored functionalities for industrial applications such as wastewater treatment, fertilizer coating and other high-value uses, and on the synthesis and functionalisation of ion-exchange polymeric resins for the selective extraction and recovery of metal ions.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Polymer Science, Organic Chemistry, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering or a closely related discipline, with relevant postdoctoral research experience.
• Demonstrated expertise in the synthesis, characterisation and functionalisation of polymers, and experience designing functional materials for adsorption, water treatment, coatings or ion-exchange technologies.
• Ability to conduct independent research while collaborating in multidisciplinary and international teams.
• Excellent scientific writing and communication skills, with a strong publication record in peer-reviewed international journals.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English is required; knowledge of French is an asset.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of polymer characterisation techniques (FTIR, NMR, SEC, TGA, DSC, SEM, XRD, BET, UV-Vis, ICP-OES/MS or related methods).
• Experience with ion-exchange resin synthesis, green chemistry or circular economy approaches is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of adsorption, wastewater treatment, hydrometallurgy or metal recovery is an asset.
• Supervision of graduate students and contribution to research proposals is an advantage.
