Senior Internal Auditor

About the role

A highly experienced, hands-on Senior Internal Auditor is sought to independently manage and execute the Internal Audit function in Morocco. This is an individual contributor role requiring strong technical audit capability and the ability to deliver the full audit lifecycle, from risk assessment and annual audit planning through fieldwork, control testing, reporting, remediation tracking and closure.

Key responsibilities

• Develop risk-based annual and periodic Internal Audit Plans
• Execute end-to-end audits across Finance, Procurement, Inventory, Sales, Logistics, Compliance, Tax and IT-dependent controls
• Evaluate the design and operating effectiveness of internal controls, SOPs, Risk-Control Matrices (RCMs) and Delegation of Authority frameworks
• Perform substantive and control testing, maintain audit workpapers and supporting evidence, and identify control weaknesses, process inefficiencies, fraud risks and compliance gaps
• Conduct root-cause analysis and develop practical, risk-based recommendations
• Prepare audit reports covering findings, risk ratings, business impact and management action plans
• Track remediation actions, validate closure evidence and escalate overdue or high-risk observations
• Apply data analytics and exception testing to enhance audit coverage
• Support investigations, special reviews and external or statutory audit requirements

Required profile

• 8+ years of relevant Internal Audit experience
• Proven ability to independently execute the complete audit cycle
• Experience auditing commodity trading or operational environments
• Strong understanding of internal controls, governance, risk management and Internal Audit standards
• Knowledge of IFRS, local GAAP, tax and regulatory compliance
• French and English proficiency is mandatory
• Candidates comfortable working independently, challenging existing controls and engaging with senior stakeholders

Required skills

• Exposure to ERP systems (SAP), CTRM/trading systems and data analytics
• CIA / CA / ACCA / CPA / CISA certification strongly preferred; Big 4 exposure is an advantage
