Software Development Manager

About the role

We are looking for a Software Development Manager to lead a diverse engineering team responsible for a mission-critical stack. The role focuses on security, resiliency, scalability and performance while collaborating with operations and other development groups.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a multi-disciplinary software engineering team, setting direction and career development.
• Deliver and maintain a secure, high-performance service architecture.
• Partner with operations and development teams to improve service resiliency and scalability.
• Define and track metrics, KPIs, SLOs and visualizations for cloud services.
• Act as escalation point for complex incidents and drive creation of SOPs.
• Guide architectural design reviews and drive innovations in observability, resiliency and code quality.
• Improve sprint and project management processes to increase team efficiency.
• Mentor engineers on design, implementation and support of new and existing services.

Required profile

• Minimum 6 years of experience managing software engineers delivering large-scale production systems.
• Strong analytical mindset with ability to anticipate risks and devise mitigation plans.
• Excellent communication, presentation and cross-team collaboration skills.
• Proven ability to work independently in ambiguous environments.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of distributed systems and data-structure design.
• Experience with RESTful APIs and database architecture.
• Solid understanding of algorithms, computer architecture and operating systems.
• Hands-on experience with Java and parallel/distributed computing.
