Aerodynamic Engineer

About the role

Harmattan AI builds autonomous and scalable defense systems and is expanding its teams after a $200M Series B. It is looking for an Aerodynamic Engineer to design, validate and continuously improve the flight physics of its platforms, working across the full loop from conceptual design and simulation through physical testing to the Python tooling that connects them, in close collaboration with the Mechanical and GNC teams.

Key responsibilities

• Aerodynamic design and analysis of fixed-wing, multicopter and eVTOL configurations, using low-fidelity methods (XFoil, OpenVSP, AVL) and higher-fidelity CFD depending on the design stage.
• Support flight test and/or wind tunnel campaigns: defining test cards, instrument prototypes and experiments to validate simulations against real data.
• Write Python to automate analysis workflows, process test and flight data and link design and simulation tools.
• Generate and maintain aerodynamic databases and stability derivatives used by the GNC team for control laws and autopilot tuning.
• Work with the Mechanical and GNC teams so that aerodynamic choices remain feasible, stable and testable.

Required profile

• B.S. or M.S. in Aerospace or Aeronautical Engineering or a related field, with coursework or projects in aerodynamics or flight mechanics.
• Solid grasp of aerodynamic fundamentals (lift, drag, stability) and flight dynamics.
• Hands-on experience with at least one side of the validation loop: aerodynamic simulation (CFD, XFoil, OpenVSP, AVL) or physical testing (wind tunnel, flight test, prototyping).
• Comfortable moving across the design-to-validation loop in a small, fast-moving team.
• Nice to have: French, RC aircraft/drones experience, propeller design, aeroacoustics.
