Air Freight Specialist

About the role

A multinational logistics company is looking for a motivated, detail-oriented Air Freight Specialist to support its air freight operations. The role covers coordinating domestic and international air shipments, negotiating rates and keeping customers informed.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate and manage daily domestic and international air freight operations, organizing shipments and planning transportation activities.
• Work with airlines, handling agents and logistics partners, and monitor shipment progress to ensure timely delivery and customer compliance.
• Request and negotiate air freight rates with airlines and service providers.
• Maintain regular contact with customers, suppliers, airlines, overseas agents and internal stakeholders.
• Prepare, verify and manage air freight documents such as Air Waybills, commercial invoices and packing lists.
• Ensure compliance with customs regulations, aviation security requirements and international shipping procedures.
• Resolve operational issues, flight delays, capacity constraints and transportation claims, and track shipment milestones and KPIs.
• Keep shipment data accurate and up to date in internal systems.
• Coordinate import and export shipments, including customs clearance and final delivery, and optimize routing and consolidation to control costs.

Required profile

• Previous experience in air freight, freight forwarding, transport coordination or international logistics.
• Good knowledge of air freight operations, import/export procedures and international logistics.
• Familiarity with Air Waybills and customs clearance procedures.
• Strong organizational, communication and problem-solving skills, able to handle several shipments at once and work under pressure.
• Customer-focused, detail-oriented and able to work independently within a team.
• Good command of English; additional languages are an advantage.

• Microsoft Office
• Experience with a Transport Management System (TMS), ERP systems or freight forwarding software is a plus
