Algo Developer

About the role

The Algo Developer will support Bernstein SG’s electronic execution activities by designing, testing, and documenting algorithmic trading and smart‑order‑routing components within the firm’s market‑access infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Develop algorithmic execution components and smart order routers for market‑access infrastructure.
• Back‑test and refine existing code to optimise performance.
• Implement enhancements from quantitative research and strategy fine‑tuning.
• Maintain tools for transaction cost analysis, order monitoring and execution‑performance analysis.
• Write clear technical documentation and manage well‑organised code libraries.
• Apply testing, version control, peer review and controlled release practices.
• Investigate defects, performance issues and execution exceptions.
• Liaise with IT for technical deployment into production environments and validate outputs before and after material changes.

Required profile

• Strong software‑development experience; Python, C++ or Java advantageous.
• Good understanding of algorithms, data structures, software architecture and performance optimisation.
• Experience with automated testing, back‑testing, debugging, version control and controlled deployment.
• Understanding of electronic trading, algorithmic execution, smart order routing or market‑access systems.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, documentation and collaboration skills.
• Knowledge of secure development, information security, access controls and operational resilience.
