Senior Principal Software Engineer – LiveLabs Platform

About the role

Oracle LiveLabs is the hands‑on learning platform that lets customers, partners and students explore Oracle technologies through guided workshops in real cloud environments. We are seeking a Senior Principal Software Engineer to lead the technical direction, architecture and reliability of the LiveLabs platform.

Key responsibilities

• Own the architecture and technical roadmap across Oracle Database, PL/SQL, Oracle APEX, Linux, Terraform and multi‑cloud providers (OCI, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
• Lead design and delivery of major platform work, ensuring reliability, security, performance and cost efficiency.
• Create reusable Terraform patterns for provisioning and tearing down workshop environments.
• Develop LiveLabs applications and backend services, including APEX features, PL/SQL services, scheduled jobs and integrations.
• Collaborate with product managers, engineers and stakeholders to translate user needs into requirements and release plans.
• Improve software delivery using GitHub workflows, automated testing, CI/CD and AI‑assisted development tools.
• Diagnose and resolve complex production issues through monitoring, incident response and root‑cause analysis.
• Mentor engineers, lead design/code reviews and communicate technical decisions to senior leadership.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of software/platform engineering experience.
• 7+ years hands‑on with Oracle Database and PL/SQL.
• 5+ years building or operating cloud platforms on OCI, AWS, Azure or Google Cloud.
• 5+ years using Terraform (or similar IaC) in Linux/Unix environments.
• 3+ years developing or operating applications with Oracle APEX.
• 3+ years with Git/GitHub, CI/CD and automated testing.
• 2+ years practical use of AI‑assisted development tools.
