Chief Engineer

About the role

Stellantis is seeking a Chief Engineer to lead the development of a key vehicle subsystem such as an internal combustion engine, gearbox, battery or electric motor. The role is responsible for aligning technical decisions with customer expectations and overall vehicle performance while delivering on quality, cost, delivery and performance targets.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and consolidate requirements from vehicle teams, generic projects and upstream phases.
• Propose QCDP‑related decisions to the System Chief Engineer and communicate them to management and partners.
• Approve technical definitions and specifications at each development phase, from virtual models to physical prototypes.
• Ensure alignment with make‑or‑buy strategies and lead engineering change‑management processes.
• Approve changes to the Bill of Materials and monitor design, verification and validation efficiency.
• Define and organise the project team structure in coordination with the Family Manager.
• Drive techno‑economic trade‑offs, guarantee milestone achievement and ensure compliance with standards and best practices.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading subsystem development in the automotive industry.
• Strong ability to arbitrate technical trade‑offs and align subsystem goals with overall vehicle requirements.
• Demonstrated competence in managing QCDP objectives and engineering change processes.
• Excellent communication skills to coordinate with cross‑functional teams and external partners.
