Core Calibration Engineer (Gasoline and Diesel Engines)

About the role

AVL is looking for a Core Calibration Engineer based in Casablanca (and/or Oued Zem) to develop and maintain baseline ECU strategy calibrations for gasoline and diesel engines. The role ensures consistency and reusability of calibrations across different vehicles and their derivatives.

Key responsibilities

• Define and update default parameters for air and fuel management, ignition and injection, torque control and engine dynamics, OBD diagnostic strategies, thermal management and emissions.
• Perform engine and vehicle bench tests to validate calibrations, evaluating performance under standard temperature, altitude and fuel conditions and ensuring robustness across the full usage range.
• Take part in technical meetings and validation reviews.
• Use and interpret test data with INCA, MDA, Matlab and Vector.

Required profile

• Engineering degree or Master's in Mechanical, Electromechanical, Powertrain or Automotive Engineering.
• 2 to 5 years of experience in engine calibration.
• Fluent French and technical English.
• Analytical mindset, rigor, autonomy and ability to work in multi-site teams.
• Strong knowledge of engine management systems and control laws; understanding of OBD strategies, emissions and regulations (Euro 6/7, EPA, CARB).
• Knowledge of engine thermodynamics, combustion and forced induction, and familiarity with homologation cycles and international constraints.
