Electron Microscopy Engineer

About the role

The UM6P Corelabs is looking for a skilled Electron Microscopy Engineer to operate and maintain SEM and TEM instruments, providing high‑quality analytical services to internal researchers, doctoral students, and industrial clients.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, prioritize and process client requests for SEM/TEM analyses.
• Prepare samples (coating, polishing, embedding, ion milling, ultramicrotomy) for electron microscopy.
• Operate SEM (high‑resolution imaging, EDS, EBSD) and TEM/STEM (imaging, EDS, EELS) at an advanced level.
• Assist clients in defining analytical needs, interpret results and produce structured reports.
• Perform first‑level instrument maintenance, report issues and ensure compliance with HSE regulations.
• Develop, validate and document SOPs, maintain traceability and data integrity.
• Participate in quality management (ISO procedures, internal audits) and train platform users.

Required profile

• PhD in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, Nanosciences or related field.
• 3‑5 years of hands‑on experience with SEM (imaging, EDS, EBSD).
• Experience with TEM/STEM, EDS and EELS is a strong asset.
• Knowledge of biological sample preparation is a plus.
• Strong client‑service orientation, organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Fluent in English and French.
