Environment, Health and Safety Manager

About the role

The Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Manager will lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of HSE plans and procedures across major construction, industrial and energy projects. This role ensures compliance with legal requirements, ISO standards and company policies while fostering a strong safety culture.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, review and update HSE plans, procedures and instructions to align with system requirements.
• Plan, organise and prioritise work to meet deadlines and optimise resource use.
• Develop internal and external communication channels for effective system implementation.
• Set objectives, monitor performance and intervene during emergencies or major incidents.
• Conduct regular on‑site inspections and audits, recommending corrective actions.
• Review reports, perform analyses and provide professional guidance.
• Coordinate HSE staffing with the Project Manager and advise on staff transfers.
• Liaise with clients and legal authorities to ensure up‑to‑date compliance.
• Lead meetings, evaluate on‑site practices and propose continuous improvements.
• Provide training, awareness sessions and enforce a learning culture.
• Manage, motivate and appraise the HSE team, recommending training needs.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Management or related field.
• NEBOSH Diploma, NVQ Level 6, GradIOSH, CMIOSH, CSP or equivalent safety qualification.
• Minimum 10 years of HSE experience and at least 5 years in a managerial role on large‑scale projects.
• Experience in waste‑to‑energy, power generation, utilities, EPC, oil & gas or related sectors is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems.
