GNC Engineer – UAV Guidance, Navigation & Control

About the role

As a GNC Engineer on the UAV team at Harmattan AI, you will design and develop cutting‑edge guidance, navigation and control solutions for autonomous defense systems. You will take algorithms from simulation through embedded implementation to live flight testing, ensuring robust performance in demanding operational environments.

Key responsibilities

• Develop state‑of‑the‑art navigation and sensor‑fusion algorithms for UAV platforms.
• Design and implement GNC and flight‑control laws, including filtering and estimation strategies.
• Run extensive simulations (Monte Carlo, SITL, HITL) and perform coverage testing.
• Analyze flight test data to refine algorithmic performance.
• Support full‑stack integration of GNSS, INS/IMU, localisation and sensor fusion.
• Maintain and evolve flight‑computer software across multiple UAV platforms.

Required profile

• Engineering degree (BSc or MSc) in computer science, aerospace, or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in aerospace GNC systems.
• Strong foundation in control theory, estimation and sensor integration.

Required skills

• Python programming.
• Embedded C/C++ development.
• Version control with Git.
• Simulation tools such as Gazebo.
• Experience with open‑source autopilots (PX4, Ardupilot, Betaflight).
• Hands‑on electronics: debugging, soldering, harnessing.
