Investment Director – Project Development (AGIA)

About the role

Africa50 is a pan‑African infrastructure investor and asset manager. The Investment Director, Project Development (AGIA) will lead the origination, structuring, closing and management of green infrastructure investments across Africa, providing technical guidance to ensure bankable outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Build a robust pipeline of opportunities through market trend analysis and sector expertise.
• Execute and oversee AGIA project development investments focused on achieving bankable outcomes.
• Lead complex transaction structuring with sponsors, lenders and public authorities.
• Maintain quality standards across the entire investment process.
• Develop and present investment recommendations to senior leadership.
• Lead and mentor project teams while developing junior staff capabilities.
• Cultivate relationships with infrastructure companies, banking partners and government officials.
• Develop expertise in power and transport sector operations and technologies.

Required profile

• 10+ years of investment and industry experience in project development, investment or project finance within power or transport sectors.
• Background in utilities, project finance departments, DFIs, advisory firms or infrastructure private equity.
• MBA, MSc or equivalent advanced qualification.
• Documented success in closing complex infrastructure transactions.
• Prior experience managing and mentoring investment staff.
• Fluent in English and French; Portuguese advantageous.

• Strong analytical and financial modelling capabilities.
• Deep understanding of PPP project structuring and project finance.
