Mechanical & Plant Engineering Internship

About the role

Join Bertrandt as a Mechanical & Plant Engineering intern and support the research and design of containerised reverse‑osmosis plants. You will work on equipment sizing, layout development and 3D CAD modelling to create preliminary concepts for future projects.

Key responsibilities

• Research comparable containerised reverse‑osmosis plants, equipment, manufacturers and design parameters.
• Derive preliminary equipment sizes, flow requirements, pressure levels and space claims from research and engineering estimates.
• Develop equipment lists, container layout, piping concept and integrated 3D CAD model.
• Create concepts for piping, supports, drainage, ventilation, installation and maintenance.
• Consider service clearances, membrane replacement, filter change, corrosion protection, access and transport.
• Coordinate equipment interfaces with process concept, instrumentation, maintenance and external connections.
• Prepare the mechanical and plant‑engineering backlog for detailed design.

Required profile

• Enrolled in Mechanical Engineering, Plant Engineering, Process Engineering, Mechatronics, Product Development or a comparable program.
• Basic CAD experience, preferably with 3D layout creation.
• Understanding of mechanical design fundamentals, fluid systems, piping or plant engineering.
• Practical knowledge of equipment packaging, assembly, access and maintenance.
• Ability to conduct structured technical research, perform engineering estimates and compare design alternatives.
• Interest in containerised plants and multidisciplinary construction.
