Medical Science Liaison – Rare Disease

About the role

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) for Rare Disease will serve as a scientific bridge between the company and healthcare professionals (HCPs) across the assigned territory. The role focuses on building and maintaining relationships with key external experts (KEEs) to support scientific exchange, medical education, and collaborative research initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a KEE engagement plan, including pre‑call preparation, objective setting, and data sharing.
• Spend approximately 70% of time in field activities, meeting HCPs, patient advocacy groups, and medical organisations.
• Identify and prioritize HCPs with high scientific expertise for collaboration on medico‑marketing and research projects.
• Provide balanced, evidence‑based information on both approved and investigational products in response to unsolicited requests.
• Maintain and update a database of key opinion leaders and recommend participants for advisory boards.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional brand teams, support CME events, and facilitate local research projects such as clinical trials and real‑world evidence studies.
• Present therapeutic updates and scientific insights to external stakeholders, acting as the disease‑area expert.

Required profile

• Advanced degree (PhD, PharmD, MD, or equivalent) in a relevant scientific discipline.
• Demonstrated experience in rare disease therapeutic areas and familiarity with clinical research processes.
• Proven ability to engage and build trust‑based relationships with HCPs, patient groups, and medical societies.
• Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned territory.
