Part-time Middle School French Teacher

About the role

The American School of Tangier is looking for a dynamic, student‑centered French teacher to join its Middle School faculty on a part‑time basis. You will teach Grades 6–8, fostering linguistic proficiency, cultural awareness, and a love for the French language within an international, multicultural environment.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and deliver French lessons aligned with the school’s curriculum and best practices (approximately 60% teaching load).
• Develop differentiated instruction to meet diverse learning needs of students aged 11‑14.
• Focus on the four core language skills—listening, speaking, reading, and writing—with an emphasis on communicative competence.
• Integrate French‑speaking cultures, traditions, and contemporary issues into lessons.
• Assess student progress regularly using formative and summative assessments; maintain accurate records and provide feedback to students and parents.
• Collaborate with the World Languages team and other faculty on cross‑curricular initiatives and school events.
• Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school community activities as required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in French, French Literature, Education or a related field (Master’s preferred).
• Valid teaching certification/license in French or World Languages.
• Minimum 2–3 years of successful middle‑school teaching experience; experience in international or American‑curriculum schools is a strong advantage.
• Native or near‑native fluency in French (C1‑C2) and strong proficiency in English.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Google Workspace for classroom collaboration.
• Experience using language‑learning apps and other technology integration tools.
