Post-Doctoral Fellow – Recycling Plastic Waste

About the role

We are looking for two highly motivated post‑doctoral fellows to join a collaborative research project between the Sustainable Materials Research Center (SusMat‑RC) at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Under the supervision of Prof. Youssef Habibi, the fellows will develop innovative recycling technologies for plastic waste using sustainable physical and chemical pathways.

Key responsibilities

• Perform hands‑on polymer processing, recycling, and material characterization.
• Design, execute, and analyse experiments employing analytical, spectroscopic and microscopic techniques.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of chemists, polymer specialists and engineers.
• Maintain detailed experimental records and prepare technical reports, research papers and conference presentations.
• Contribute to grant proposal writing and project reporting.

Required profile

• PhD in polymer science, chemistry, materials engineering or a related field.
• Strong motivation for research in sustainable materials and circular economy.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
