Post-Doctoral Researcher – AI & Autonomous Drone Systems

About the role

This post‑doctoral position focuses on creating intelligent, autonomous drone systems by combining artificial intelligence, edge computing and digital‑twin technologies. The researcher will work on real‑time flight control, AI‑driven data processing and mission management platforms to deliver smart UAV demonstrators for industrial use.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and optimise real‑time flight control algorithms for autonomous navigation.
• Design AI‑based data processing pipelines using reinforcement learning, computer vision and sensor fusion.
• Build and maintain digital‑twin models to monitor drone health and mission performance.
• Integrate IoT and edge‑computing solutions for real‑time data acquisition from UAV sensors.
• Participate in field trials at UM6P and OCP sites to validate performance and reliability.
• Contribute to academic and industrial publications and technical reports.

Required profile

• PhD or equivalent in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Strong background in AI/ML and autonomous systems research.
• Experience with embedded systems and IoT architecture.
• Proven programming ability in Python, ROS, TensorFlow or MATLAB.
• Demonstrated interest in applied AI for UAV applications.
