Postdoctoral Fellow – Bioinformatics & Microbial Genomics

About the role

The African Genome Center (AGC) at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University invites applications for a postdoctoral fellowship focused on bioinformatics and microbial genomics. Working under Professor Vittorio Venturi, the fellow will explore bacterial cell‑cell signaling within plant microbiomes and contribute to sustainable agricultural research.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze genomics and metagenomics datasets of plant‑associated bacteria.
• Investigate signaling systems and genomic features of beneficial bacterial strains.
• Develop and apply bioinformatics pipelines for microbial community analysis.
• Collaborate with the research team to design experiments and interpret results.
• Prepare scientific manuscripts and present findings at conferences.

Required profile

• PhD in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Microbial Genomics, Bioinformatics or a closely related field.
• Documented expertise in bacteriology, molecular biology and microbial genomics.
• Strong publication record in internationally recognized journals.
• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
