Postdoctoral Fellow – Bioinformatics & Microbial Genomics

About the role

The African Genome Center (AGC) at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to advance research in bioinformatics and microbial genomics. You will work within Professor Vittorio Venturi’s group, focusing on bacterial cell‑cell signaling in plant microbiomes and the genomic characterization of beneficial strains.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze genomics and metagenomics datasets from plant‑associated bacterial communities.
• Identify and characterize signaling systems and genomic features of beneficial microbes.
• Integrate bioinformatic pipelines with laboratory validation experiments.
• Publish findings in internationally recognized journals.
• Contribute to training activities and technology transfer initiatives.

Required profile

• PhD in Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Microbial Genomics, Bioinformatics or a related field.
• Demonstrated expertise in bacteriology, molecular biology and microbial genomics of soil and rhizosphere environments.
• Strong publication record in peer‑reviewed journals.
• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
