Postdoctoral Researcher – Biodiesel Production from Biomass

About the role

The African Sustainable Agriculture Research Institute (ASARI) at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to lead projects on biodiesel production from biomass. The successful candidate will work within an international research framework, contributing to the development of sustainable bio‑energy solutions for Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and optimise protocols for lipid extraction from various biomass sources.
• Convert extracted lipids into biodiesel and assess conversion efficiency.
• Analyse lipid profiles and evaluate biodiesel quality according to standard criteria.
• Perform mass‑balance calculations, lipid‑yield assessments and productivity analyses.
• Publish research findings in peer‑reviewed journals and present results at national scientific meetings.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external partners to advance the research agenda.

Required profile

• PhD in Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Bioenergy, Environmental Engineering or a related discipline from a recognised university.
• Demonstrated research excellence in lipid extraction and biodiesel production.
• Strong written and spoken English; French proficiency is an advantage.
• Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
