Postdoctoral Researcher – Electronics & Embedded IoT Systems

About the role

We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher with expertise in electronics and embedded systems to design, develop, and deploy innovative IoT solutions for research projects such as air‑quality monitoring, water‑leak detection, and energy monitoring of electric‑vehicle batteries.

Key responsibilities

• Design, prototype, and test IoT devices for environmental and energy applications.
• Integrate sensors (PM2.5, CO2, NOx, voltage, current, battery cycles) with real‑time data acquisition and analysis pipelines.
• Deploy field prototypes, collect performance feedback, and optimise reliability, security and scalability.
• Connect IoT systems to cloud platforms (AWS IoT, Azure IoT, Google Cloud IoT, ThingsBoard) and implement edge‑computing processing.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary research teams to generate usable data and contribute to scientific publications.

Required profile

• PhD in electronics, embedded systems, telecommunications, industrial computing, electrical engineering or a related field.
• Proven experience in designing, prototyping and deploying IoT solutions for environmental or energy use‑cases.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and capacity to lead projects from concept to implementation.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in both French and English.

• Programming languages: C/C++, Python, JavaScript.
• Firmware development and optimisation.
• IoT communication protocols: MQTT, CoAP, LoRaWAN, Zigbee, BLE, Wi‑Fi, LTE.
• Cloud integration: AWS IoT, Azure IoT, Google Cloud IoT, ThingsBoard.
• Edge computing architectures.
• IoT‑oriented databases: InfluxDB, PostgreSQL, Firebase.
• Data visualisation tools: Grafana, Tableau.
