Postdoctoral Researcher in Agricultural Microbial Biotechnology

About the role

The AgroBioSciences program at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University seeks a motivated postdoctoral researcher to investigate rhizosphere microbial processes that enhance nutrient use efficiency and crop productivity. The position focuses on soil microbial diversity, root plasticity, and plant‑growth‑promoting traits to develop sustainable solutions for African agriculture.

Key responsibilities

• Design and conduct experiments on soil microbial diversity and function in the rhizosphere.
• Study root exudation, plasticity, and associated microbial activities under varying nutrient conditions.
• Assess plant‑growth‑promoting traits such as nitrogen fixation, phytohormone production, and P‑K‑Zn solubilization.
• Analyze data using appropriate statistical and bio‑informatic tools.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across microbiome, plant physiology, and agronomy groups.
• Prepare scientific manuscripts, reports, and present findings at conferences.

Required profile

• PhD in Microbiology, Plant Science, Agronomy, Soil Science, or a related field.
• Experience in soil microbial ecology or plant‑microbe interaction research.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to work in an interdisciplinary research environment.
• Fluent English communication (written and spoken).

• Soil microbial diversity analysis (e.g., DNA‑based methods).
