Postdoctoral Researcher in Bioreactor Modelling and Simulation

About the role

The African Sustainable Agriculture Research Institute (ASARI) at Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) is looking for a postdoctoral researcher in computational biotechnology, focusing on modelling and simulation of bioreactors under aerobic and/or anaerobic treatment of biomass. The researcher joins a multidisciplinary team and contributes to computational modules that simulate bioreactor behaviour and performance to produce high-value products. The position is based in Laayoune.

Key responsibilities

• Set up, validate and evaluate Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) models to study bioreactor heterogeneities and performance
• Develop and apply modelling and simulation approaches to approximate CFD results
• Analyse and interpret data from scale-down and scale-up experiments
• Publish results in peer-reviewed journals and present them at national scientific meetings
• Carry out original research within an international framework

Required profile

• PhD in modelling, simulation and process engineering from a recognised university
• Professional experience in biotechnology, process engineering, modelling and bioreactor simulation
• Evidence of research excellence
• Strong written and spoken English, and good presentation skills
• Ability to work professionally with faculty, staff and students and in teams

Required skills

• Modelling and simulation of fluid dynamics, preferably for bioreactor environments
• Knowledge of aerobic and anaerobic treatment
• Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)
