Postdoctoral Researcher in Nuclear Physics and Applications

About the role

Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) is looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher in nuclear physics and its applications, with expertise in radiochemistry applied to the phosphate industry. The position is within the Center of Expertise for Phosphates (CEPH), which works with industry through a joint program to improve industrial performance and operational excellence.

Key responsibilities

• Analyze and monitor radionuclides and heavy metals: develop nuclear analysis methods to characterize phosphate ores and by-products, and control their migration during industrial processes.
• Use nuclear techniques to improve the efficiency and sustainability of industrial processes, working with production teams.
• Design detection and dosimetry systems for the phosphate industry and innovate analytical methods to find optimization opportunities.
• Take part in training industrial teams on radioprotection and nuclear techniques, and supervise students and young researchers.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Physics or equivalent, with a specialization in nuclear physics and detection techniques.
• Experience in academic and/or industrial projects related to the phosphate industry or similar fields.
• Scientific publications in specialized journals.

Required skills

• Nuclear instrumentation and advanced detection techniques, including Monte Carlo simulation software (MCNP, GEANT4).
• Multi-element analytical techniques (PIXE, XRF, ICP-MS).
• Experience in treating and valorizing radioactive industrial waste.
• Writing technical reports and scientific publications, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
