Project Economics Controller (PEC)

About the role

We are looking for a Project Economics Controller (PEC) to manage and consolidate R&D and CAPEX expenses for projects under the guidance of the Project Economics Manager. The role supports budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting within the automotive sector.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and consolidate R&D and CAPEX project expenditures.
• Drive action plans to achieve assigned budget targets.
• Establish and consolidate project expense status (R&D, CAPEX, make/buy, ED&D suppliers, PSO).
• Develop multi‑year expense forecasts and break them down by year, project and region.
• Coordinate budget convergence initiatives with Engineering, GPSC and Purchasing teams.
• Oversee the annual project budget, monitoring actuals versus forecasts and handling indirect costs.
• Validate R&D expense workflows and investment approvals.
• Prepare series entry by compiling residual expenses and transferring them to the Serial Life Team.
• Document lessons learned and management rules in VEMO/RD3C.

Required profile

• 1‑3 years of experience with a degree in Finance, Economics or Engineering.
• Background in R&D/CAPEX controlling and interfacing with technical organisations.
• Proven ability in financial consolidation, variance analysis and reporting.
• Experience in R&D and CAPEX budget control (make/buy, launch costs, ED&D, PSO).
• Risk and opportunity portfolio management.
• Monthly and annual forecasting, tracking actuals versus budget.
• Knowledge of the automotive industry.
