Terminal Supervisor

About the role

The Terminal Supervisor leads the day‑to‑day operations of a container terminal, ensuring efficient reception, processing, and staging of cargo. This role combines operational oversight with people management to drive performance and safety in a dynamic port environment.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the receipt, transit, storage, and marshalling of containers and other cargo.
• Oversee loading and unloading of transport conveyances and ensure accurate manifesting and forwarding of shipments.
• Lead a team of terminal staff, handling hiring, coaching, performance appraisal, and pay reviews.
• Develop and implement operational policies, business plans, and process improvements.
• Set direction for the terminal area, monitor performance against objectives, and report results.
• Ensure compliance with safety, security, and regulatory standards.

Required profile

• Proven experience in terminal, port, or related logistics operations.
• Demonstrated people‑leadership skills with full employee‑lifecycle responsibilities.
• Ability to work independently within defined guidelines while seeking supervision for complex tasks.
• Strong decision‑making and problem‑solving capabilities.
• Advanced education or equivalent practical knowledge in logistics or a related field.
