Compliance Operations Lead

About the role

RemotePass is seeking a Compliance Operations Lead to bridge the gap between the Head of Compliance, Operations, and the analyst team. This senior position will handle complex compliance cases, ensure consistent decision‑making, and help scale the compliance function as the company grows.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the first escalation point for complex KYB, KYC, and enhanced due‑diligence cases.
• Review and quality‑assure analyst decisions, including risk ratings, evidence, and disposition notes.
• Define, monitor, and report on team SLAs and KPIs such as case aging and turnaround times.
• Develop and maintain SOPs, escalation templates, and documentation standards.
• Manage sanctions, PEP, and adverse‑media escalations, including false‑positive reviews.
• Support transaction monitoring by identifying unusual payout patterns and high‑risk activity.
• Maintain the compliance evidence register and issue/remediation tracker for audits.
• Coordinate with Customer Success and Operations to ensure clear, commercially practical compliance requests.
• Report operational metrics to the Head of Compliance and COO.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in compliance operations, AML/financial crime, sanctions, or payments compliance.
• Background in a regulated financial services environment (e.g., licensed money transmitter, payment institution, bank, fintech, card/spend platform).
• Proven ability to make decisions on ambiguous cases with incomplete documentation.
• Strong analytical judgment and attention to detail.
