AI Software Engineer

About the role

As an experienced AI Software Engineer at Leyton CognitX, you will join a multidisciplinary team of data scientists, DevOps engineers, and consultants to design, build, and deploy large‑scale AI solutions for internal and external clients. You will tackle open‑ended problems, make critical architectural decisions, and drive innovation across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable features and platforms, including APIs, business logic, databases, and security layers.
• Lead the implementation of advanced AI systems such as Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines, LLM agent fleets, and model fine‑tuning using OpenAI, Anthropic, and open‑source LLMs.
• Champion clean code practices, SOLID principles, and design patterns while conducting thorough code reviews.
• Define and execute testing strategies (TDD, unit, integration, e2e, stress tests) to ensure reliable deployments.
• Deploy, monitor, and optimize models in cloud environments using robust CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes, and Infrastructure‑as‑Code tools.
• Act as a technical advisor for clients, translating business challenges into technical solutions and defending architectural choices.
• Mentor junior developers and DataLab interns, fostering skill growth and knowledge sharing.

Required profile

• Proven experience designing distributed, scalable, and resilient systems.
• Strong command of system trade‑offs, data structures, and algorithmic optimization.
• Deep understanding of clean architecture, microservices, and event‑driven designs.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.
