Backend Software Engineer (Scala)

About the role

Join IAV Morocco’s backend platform team to design, build, and maintain scalable, event‑driven services that power connected‑vehicle features. You will work with modern functional programming tools and contribute to the full software lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Develop backend services in Scala using http4s and cats‑effect.
• Build and maintain Kafka producers, consumers, and event‑driven flows.
• Design and optimise Cassandra data models and queries.
• Implement REST APIs and integrations with sttp and JSON.
• Work with Avro/Protobuf schemas ensuring backward compatibility.
• Write unit, integration, and contract tests (ScalaTest, MUnit, Mockito, WireMock).
• Support Docker‑based development environments and prepare services for deployment.
• Refactor legacy code and reduce technical debt.

Required profile

• Engineering degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 3+ years of backend development experience.
• Strong expertise in Scala and functional programming.
• Experience with distributed, event‑driven systems.
• Comfortable working in agile teams.
