Compliance & Business Ethics Manager – Africa & Indian Ocean

About the role

SGS is seeking a Compliance & Business Ethics Manager to lead and coordinate compliance activities across French‑speaking countries in North, West and Central Africa and the Indian Ocean. Reporting to the Regional Compliance function, you will act as a trusted partner, promoting integrity, mitigating risks and supporting internal controls in a multicultural environment.

Key responsibilities

• Implement the Compliance & Business Ethics Program across the assigned countries and coordinate local Compliance Ambassadors.
• Advise management and operational teams on compliance risks, mitigation actions, governance and internal‑control improvements.
• Conduct risk‑based compliance reviews, integrity assessments, control evaluations and follow‑up on corrective actions.
• Lead or coordinate investigations, document findings, support remediation and promote appropriate use of reporting channels.
• Design and deliver compliance training, fostering a culture of integrity, accountability and ethical decision‑making.
• Prepare reports, dashboards, KPIs and management presentations; monitor trends and collaborate with HR, Legal, Finance, Internal Audit and Business Leadership.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in law, compliance, risk management, finance, audit, internal control, business administration or a related field.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in compliance, internal audit, risk management or related areas, including at least 5 years in compliance & business ethics.
• Regional or multi‑country experience is a strong advantage.
• Proven track record of implementing compliance programmes, conducting reviews, managing risks and supporting investigations in international settings.
• Fluent in English and French.
• Professional certifications such as CIA, CFE, CAMS, ACCA or equivalent are preferred.
