Director of Engineering, UAS Development

About the role

As Director of Engineering for UAS Development at Harmattan AI, you will create and lead a new engineering organisation in Rabat, Morocco. This founding position will build a team of roughly 50 engineers across six modules, own the full technical chain from concept to series production, and establish a local supplier ecosystem.

Key responsibilities

• Build and staff the engineering group from the ground up while maintaining high technical standards.
• Manage a fixed‑milestone programme calendar and drive delivery against contractual dates.
• Own end‑to‑end technical responsibility for airframe, propulsion, avionics, launcher and ground‑segment systems, including flight‑test and trials.
• Lead and mentor managers, conduct design and programme reviews across multiple disciplines, and shape the leadership layer.
• Develop the local supplier base and operational ecosystem for the UAS programme.
• Interface directly with the General Manager, Chief Engineer, CTOs, programme management and the customer, owning evidence and milestone relationships.

Required profile

• MSc in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering or a closely related field; a proven track record of building organisations is a plus.
• 10+ years of professional experience with at least 4 years in engineering management.
• Demonstrated ability to manage managers, having overseen at least four direct reports who were themselves team leads.
