Forward Deployed Software Engineer

About the role

Harmattan AI is seeking a Forward Deployed Software Engineer to own the end‑to‑end delivery of its defense‑grade software solutions in the field. You will integrate the platform into customer environments, customise configurations for each operational context, and ensure the software runs reliably where it matters most.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement software interfaces that connect our platform to customers' existing client systems, adapting each integration to the specific context.
• Configure, customise, and parameterise the application for each deployment, then deploy and commission it on site.
• Support on‑premises release and update processes, safeguarding baseline stability across deployed instances.
• Debug and resolve software issues in operational settings, providing on‑site troubleshooting and structured escalation.
• Document integration architecture, configuration decisions, deployment states, and issue resolution with rigorous records.
• Collaborate directly with customer technical teams to capture requirements and verify that the solution meets operational needs.
• Feed reusable integration and customisation requirements back to the core product team to avoid per‑deployment forks.

Required profile

• 3–6 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Hands‑on background in both system integration (building connectors) and application configuration/customisation for specific environments.
• Strong ownership mindset: able to build, configure, debug, and deploy software end‑to‑end.
• Comfortable working on site with customers in demanding, mission‑critical settings.

Required skills

• Software engineering fundamentals (design, development, testing, deployment).
• Experience creating interfaces and connectors between heterogeneous systems.
• Ability to configure and parameterise complex software applications for varied operational contexts.
