Freelance French SEO Content Writer

About the role

An experienced freelance French SEO content writer is sought to strengthen organic search visibility and AI search presence across French markets, including France and French-speaking Africa. The role creates original, high-quality French content tailored to local audiences, search intent and SEO best practices; it is a content-writing role, not a translation role. It covers both traditional search engines and emerging AI-powered answer engines such as ChatGPT.

Key responsibilities

• Create high-quality French content pieces based on briefs and keyword targets from the SEO team
• Write original, engaging and SEO-optimised content for French-speaking audiences in France and Africa
• Align content with target keywords, search intent, structure and on-page SEO requirements
• Research topics, trends, competitors and audience needs to build authoritative content
• Adapt and localise existing English-language content so it reads naturally and fits the culture
• Incorporate stakeholder feedback and maintain consistent brand voice and SEO guidelines
• Produce commercial landing pages, blogs, glossaries, whitepapers, FAQs, competitor comparisons and localised articles

Required profile

• Native French writing with excellent command of grammar, vocabulary and conventions, natural for France and French-speaking Africa
• Proven SEO content writing experience, preferably for B2B audiences
• Ability to interpret SEO briefs and keyword targets and to work with English-speaking colleagues
• Ability to meet deadlines and manage several assignments independently
• Preferred: B2B SaaS experience, exposure to governance, board management, legal technology or corporate services, and experience writing for international or multilingual markets

Required skills

• SEO principles: keyword optimisation, search intent, content structure and on-page SEO
• Familiarity with content optimisation for AI-powered search and answer engines, including Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO)
• Strong research, editing and proofreading skills

Engagement: freelance / contract, three months starting in early November, with possible extension depending on business needs and performance, working remotely.
