Junior Software Engineer – 5G NTN RAN (L2/L3)

About the role

Aerospacelab designs and manufactures small satellites and develops earth observation services, with teams in Belgium, France, Switzerland and the US. This Junior Software Engineer role builds 5G protocol stack components for Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN), working alongside experienced engineers to bring high-performance wireless communication over satellite links to life.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and validate 5G NR NTN gNB L2/L3 features according to 3GPP specifications
• Develop Aerospacelab-specific enhancements
• Build performance tests, unit tests, logging and support infrastructure to ensure software quality
• Deploy and validate software in lab and field environments, including satellite link emulation and hardware-in-the-loop systems

Required profile

• Academic or practical experience in telecommunications, embedded systems or software engineering
• Familiarity with 3GPP 5G specifications and protocol stack concepts
• Eagerness to learn, strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset

Required skills

• C/C++ or Rust programming
• Nice to have: DPDK, embedded software development, low-level performance troubleshooting, 5G stack development exposure, interest in satellite communications and NTN systems
