Legal Counsel (Global Programme Delivery)

About the role

Save the Children International is seeking a Legal Counsel to join its global legal team. The role will support the organisation’s international programme delivery, providing strategic legal advice to country offices and global teams across multiple regions.

Key responsibilities

• Advise on legal risk and contractual matters for SCI’s international programming operations, covering procurement, programming, awards and finance.
• Provide guidance on global‑scope issues such as policy changes, transformation delivery, HR, partnerships, finance, treasury and fundraising.
• Support governance requirements for a worldwide non‑profit organisation.
• Lead specific contractual and legal‑risk projects and manage relationships with designated global teams.
• Contribute to legal‑team initiatives, including pro‑bono law‑firm relationships and internal training.
• Mentor junior legal staff and, where needed, undertake line‑management duties.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with experience in international or humanitarian contexts.
• Strong understanding of corporate, commercial and procurement law.
• Ability to work across diverse regions and cultures.
• Proven capacity to manage complex legal projects and advise senior stakeholders.

Required skills

• Expertise in commercial contracting and risk management.
• Knowledge of governance and compliance for global NGOs.
