Legal Counsel – International Programme Delivery

About the role

Save the Children International is seeking a Legal Counsel to join its global legal team. The role will support the organisation’s international programme delivery, providing strategic legal advice to country offices and global teams across multiple regions.

Key responsibilities

• Advise on legal risk and contractual matters for SCI’s international programming operations across five regions.
• Provide legal guidance on procurement, programming, awards, finance, HR, partnerships, treasury and fundraising for global teams.
• Support governance requirements of a global non‑profit organisation.
• Lead specific contractual and legal risk projects and manage relationships with designated SCI Global Teams.
• Oversee law‑firm pro‑bono relationships, internal training initiatives and other legal‑team functions.
• Mentor junior team members and, where required, undertake line‑management duties.
• Assist with complex commercial contracting, transformation delivery projects and high‑value supply‑chain contracts when expertise aligns.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with experience in international programme delivery and commercial contracting.
• Demonstrated ability to provide strategic legal advice across diverse functional areas.
• Willingness to work flexibly during humanitarian emergencies or organisational crises.
