Legal Counsel (Program Delivery)

About the role

Save the Children International is seeking a Legal Counsel to support its global programme delivery. The role sits within the Legal team and provides strategic legal advice to country offices and global teams across five regions.

Key responsibilities

• Advise on legal risk and contractual matters related to international programming operations, including procurement, awards, finance and partnership agreements.
• Lead legal support for global initiatives such as policy changes, transformation delivery, HR, treasury and fundraising.
• Ensure compliance with governance requirements of a worldwide organisation.
• Manage specific contractual and legal‑risk projects and maintain relationships with designated global teams.
• Oversee law‑firm pro‑bono relationships, internal training initiatives and other legal‑team functions.
• Provide line‑management or mentorship to junior legal staff.
• Support transformation delivery and supply‑chain procurement functions when expertise in complex commercial contracting is required.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with experience advising on international programmes and commercial contracts.
• Demonstrated ability to work across multiple regions and cultures.
• Strong analytical skills and capacity to manage legal risk in humanitarian contexts.
• Willingness to work flexible hours during emergencies or crises.
