Program Manager - Elephant Monitoring and Management Programme

About the role

Achytam International is recruiting an experienced Program Manager for the Sustainability department to oversee the Elephant Monitoring and Management Programme. The role covers electric fencing infrastructure, surveillance and field operations, mitigation measures and programme execution, including leading multidisciplinary teams and ensuring compliance with quality, health, safety, environmental and social standards.

Key responsibilities

• Manage electric fence maintenance and infrastructure: plan, organise and supervise teams, oversee electrical maintenance and vegetation management, and recommend improvements to fence design and maintenance.
• Monitor and document fence incidents, damages and breaches, and set up rapid response procedures for breaches and elephant intrusions.
• Establish and manage surveillance and patrolling teams, develop daily patrol schedules, and maintain an online reporting and monitoring system.
• Coordinate with human-elephant conflict specialists, research institutions and NGOs on research and data collection, and incorporate research outcomes into fencing designs and operations.
• Lead engineers, technicians, surveillance personnel and field teams, including recruitment, performance assessment, training needs and promotion recommendations.
• Set quality objectives, review and approve procedures, and prepare weekly reports to senior management.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and social standards, and coordinate environmental improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
• Relevant experience in programme management, infrastructure management, engineering operations or project management.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary teams, contractors and field operations.
• Strong understanding of engineering infrastructure, electrical systems, maintenance operations and technical specifications.
• Knowledge of health, safety, environmental and social compliance requirements.
• Fluency in French is mandatory.
