Project Economics Controller – Project Finance Management

About the role
The Project Economics Controller (PEC) is responsible for overseeing all project‑related expenses and ensuring financial targets are met. Reporting to the VEMO/RD3C hierarchy and working closely with the Project Economics Manager, the PEC plays a key role in budgeting, forecasting, and expense control across multiple engineering projects.
Key responsibilities
- Establish and monitor the status of project expenses, including make/buy investments, launch costs, and supplier ED&D.
- Synthesize global expense data, integrating FTE and validation inputs provided by the Planning Manager.
- Retrieve and maintain cost‑book information from CTPC/PCP coordinators.
- Produce multi‑year expense views and required splits (annual, by project, by region).
- Ensure data source quality, consistency, and reliability for expense synthesis.
- Build and update a Risks and Opportunities portfolio for expenses and lead corrective action plans.
- Define robust expense targets during the project convergence phase in collaboration with Product Planning.
- Manage the annual project budget, monitor actual versus budgeted spend, and generate monthly forecasts.
- Coordinate with Purchasing, Engineering, and other stakeholders to align expenses with forecasts.
- Validate expense workflows for R&D and investments, and prepare the project for mass production hand‑over.
- Compile final expense status, conduct lessons learned, and transfer remaining budget to the serial‑life team.
Required profile
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to synthesize complex financial data.
- Experience in project expense management, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with product planning, engineering, purchasing, and manufacturing teams.
- Detail‑oriented approach to ensure data quality and consistency.
- Proactive attitude in identifying risks, opportunities, and corrective actions.
