Senior Laboratory & Diagnostic Officer

About the role

The Senior Laboratory & Diagnostic Officer provides technical leadership for laboratory systems strengthening and diagnostics under the STRIDES Morocco Activity. Working closely with the Project Director, government entities and in‑country partners, the Officer ensures that laboratory interventions align with Morocco's national health priorities and donor requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead day‑to‑day implementation of laboratory‑related activities and track outputs against the approved workplan.
• Engage with the Ministry of Health and relevant authorities to ensure alignment with national standards and regulatory frameworks.
• Support development and implementation of laboratory policies, quality‑management standards and improvement processes at national and sub‑national levels.
• Develop tools, guidelines, training materials and standard operating procedures for laboratory and diagnostic systems.
• Identify gaps in laboratory capacity and design evidence‑based strategies to address them.
• Provide technical mentorship, on‑the‑job support and capacity‑building to national and sub‑national laboratory staff.
• Monitor project protocols, instruments, data sets, manuals and reports; prepare technical briefs and reports.
• Assist in developing and monitoring technical work plans and budgets.

Required profile

• Demonstrated technical leadership in laboratory systems strengthening and diagnostics.
• Experience working with Ministry of Health or similar government entities.
• Ability to develop policies, quality‑management standards and SOPs.
• Proven capacity to mentor and build skills of laboratory personnel.
• Experience managing technical work plans and budgets.
