Construction Manager

About the role

This senior construction manager position supports the Project Manager and the planning engineer in delivering construction projects. The role covers planning, resource forecasting, quality control, subcontractor coordination, safety leadership and coaching of junior engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Help prepare project planning, review work progress and schedules with section engineers, and update look-ahead planning to meet targets.
• Review drawings, specifications, method statements and material data sheets, flag design issues and recommend improvements.
• Define work fronts, prioritize on-site activities and direct the construction team for cost-effective execution.
• Set, monitor and adjust productivity rates and operational targets, and advise the Project Manager on construction methodology and technical choices.
• Forecast people, materials, equipment and tools, allocate them efficiently and keep costs down.
• Supervise work execution, review QA/QC reports and client/consultant observations, and resolve deficiencies with section engineers.
• Investigate damages, incidents and delays, and run mitigation plans to protect project profitability.
• Monitor resource performance, progress reports and compliance with policies and procedures, and ensure timely reporting.
• Lead safety, run toolbox talks and enforce safety regulations.
• Liaise with the client and consultant, manage subcontractors' work and quality, and plan demobilization at the end of each phase.
• Coach junior engineers and train them to improve their skills.

Required profile

• Civil engineering degree with at least 15 years of experience.
• Strong sense of effectiveness, efficiency, quality and safety.
• Good communication, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Written and spoken English, French and Arabic.
