General Counsel – Pharmaceutical Legal Lead (Morocco)

About the role

The General Counsel will lead the legal function for a global investor’s pharmaceutical operations in Morocco. This senior position ensures compliance with Moroccan pharmaceutical laws, international standards, and internal policies while supporting strategic initiatives and governance.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement legal standards and frameworks for pharmaceutical activities, aligned with company strategy.
• Establish and monitor compliance systems, conduct audits, and deliver legal training across departments.
• Serve as Board Secretary, manage governance documentation, and ensure compliance with Moroccan Companies Law.
• Identify and mitigate legal risks, provide counsel on licensing, partnerships, and regulatory matters.
• Manage relationships with external counsel and regulatory bodies, oversee litigation and dispute resolution.
• Review, negotiate, and finalize contracts such as supply, distribution, and licensing agreements.
• Advise on intellectual property protection and management.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in Moroccan pharmaceutical law and international regulatory standards.
• Proven ability to lead a legal function, manage risk, and support corporate governance.
• Experience liaising with Moroccan authorities (Ministry of Health, ANPM, Moroccan Agency for Medicines and Health Products).
• Strong track record in contract negotiation, compliance assurance, and dispute management.
